I received the cookbook yesterday and am enchanted. I love the doggie recipes and look forward to using them. The results of the book are fantastic. I must tell you that prior to becoming a rescue dog junkie and the start of Col. Potter Cairn rescue network, I spent many years enjoying cooking classes of all types, and I really do consider myself to be an excellent cook, one who does not get ruffled having dinner parties. Along with my love of cooking, I also collected cookbooks. I learned long ago that the books I always enjoyed the most were books that are put together by groups of real people such as this one was. The love and care that went into this are quite apparent. YOU ALL DID GREAT, and the little chihuahuas will surely benefit from this. Two years ago (hey, we are running about three years behind our deadline now) the Cairn family started collecting recipes for a book. If we get this out next year, it probably would be a miracle. I only hope that ours is half as nice as yours is . . . BE PROUD. You all did great. Incidentally, I ALSO will be ordering a second book. ~ Danielle Rackstraw, Cairn Rescue Network I was jealous because Robin in Dallas got her CRT cookbook on Thursday but today mine arrived. Carole, there is no WAY I was able to conceive of all the work you have done. I thought I could, but holding this FANTASTIC miracle in my hot little hands, I realize that, even though I thought I did, I had no clue how wonderful it would be. I don't even know where to start singing your praises. My God, even the BOX it was packed in was extra nice, and so was the mailing label! Reading the intro letters, I was in TEARS (OK, I'm middle aged and I cry easily, especially where dogs are concerned) reading about how many Chis had found forever homes through CRT last year. I had so much fun spotting all the Chis I know personally on the divider pages as I put each one in it's proper place. The artwork is even more fabulous in the "flesh". The book itself is a million times nicer than I ever thought it could be for such a reasonable price. I am just in AWE of it and can barely believe it's mine. The tables on the inside covers are fantastic and it will be so good to have them at my fingertips when I need them. All the little details are just great - things like all the pages full of hints printed on the back of each divider tab - I'm amazed. Pasta cooking times, how to read nutrition labels, napkin folding, calorie counters and on and on!!! I am going to read it from cover to cover, with a big pad full of post-it notes in my lap to mark everything I want to make. And I will think of someone to give at least one other copy too as well - this book is FAR too fabulous not to share. I had to sneak a peek at some of the doggy recipes and those might just be the most fun and rewarding of all to make! It's just totally amazing! This morning, over my coffee, I read the appetizer section and was thrilled to find the dog quotes at the bottom of the pages and the whole PAGE by Karen from Chiznkrakerz. Cried big old tears when I unexpectedly found a recipe from Julie. And of course I marked well over a dozen recipes I can't wait to try. If you haven't already, ORDER one of these gems!!! Carole, you're the next candidate for sainthood, believe me. This book is a real treasure and you did SUCH a wonderful job, that I'm just in awe. My copies of the cook book arrived last night, FANTASTIC JOB! I'll try to get a picture of Lady Grey deciding what I need to cook for dinner! I also noted that a lot of the "Fur-Baby" Treats looked good enough for human consumption! ~ Thomas Johnston Received my cookbook today! I am DELIGHTED and can't wait to try the recipes! What a FANTASTIC job you did in putting this book together for us. ~ Barbara Tenenbaum I had a chance to look through the cookbook today and I am really impressed with the artwork and layout. Plus the recipes had me drooling all day. Do NOT outsell the cookbooks. I can only order a cookbook every other week. but I need 4 to send for gifts. I was helping a coworker at his conference and he was commenting on the beautiful artwork and how his wife would love to have a cookbook just like it. So I told him I would get the order form and he could fill out the form and get it for her for a present. I love it!!! So save at least 5 books if you can for me. Got my cookbook today. Since I'm really new I am not familiar with who did the cookbook. I was very impressed. It was not about the cookbook in the beginning but about a way to donate to CRT. I was excpecting a paperback something. I was floored when I opened it and can only say that the "workmanship" matches the "integrity" of the wonderful organization that I have been so blessed to become a part of. ~ Carla Short Got mine too........and it's the nicest I've ever seen. Usually they are the spiral notebok type when they come from an organization. They say experience is a great teacher so I will ask my question again -- WHEN DOES VOLUME 2 COME OUT? Oh, I have been so depressed and had sleepless nights over it. Then the doorbell rang. It made my day feel so happy! The girls got so excited, barking and jumping ... "oh, mommy, mommy, it's that mail lady here again. What did she bring us?" (of course anything we get in the mail is usually for them!!) Adam brings in a package. "Oh, Mom!!" he said, "It's Tanya's cookbook!!!" As hard as it was, I let him open it. Never did I think it would be so nice. I used to order cookbooks like through fund raisers for Adam's school, etc., Not at all like those!! I must say it made my day, Tanya and Carole. Even brought tears to my eyes to see how much work you put into it and all the support the chi doggies are going to have from this special book. I called mom as she sent her order out yesterday. But I won't let her see mine cause I want her to be as surprised as I am. She asked me all these questions and is so excited to see Martina in there. She said how special it is that Tanya got her that cute blue sweater and she is posing in it for the cookbook that Tanya helped so much putting together. Mom wants to know if she can order more for Christmas gifts. Will there be enough? Oh, I have to go and read it now. Thank you so much for this special gift to help so many dogs and to bring some good cooking into our home. I was happy to see many meatless meals I can prepare, too. Hugs and thanks so much.
